MDK Flowers
MDK was founded in 1996 by founder and namesake Marcel Duijvesteijn. After he had gained some years of experience in growing ficus and monstera plants, he focused on growing luxurious decorative greenery. In 2006, MDK expanded its business by opening its own location in Ghana, which is where the beautiful Heliconia is from.
HELICONIA: A Tropical SURPRISE
Tropical flowers never fail to amaze with their exotic shapes and colours. Lobster claw, the more common name for Heliconia, is no exception. It has large bracts with a very bright colour that cluster up a stem. Heliconias are quite common in the rainforest. They are also often found as ornamental plants in gardens and landscaped areas. The heliconia can also be home to other living things. Water collects in the bracts of the straight stems, which provides a habitat for many species of tiny aquatic organisms.
