Quinta de Regaleira is definitely a highlight when coming to Sintra. Everything is this garden was built with an underlying message. For instance, you have a large spiral staircase that symbolises going to the afterlife. This long staircase then leads you to a beautiful garden that symbolises rebirth and the entrance to heaven.
